As global partner, iba will be present at the International Baking Industry Exposition (IBIE) and contribute with a lecture and via a panel discussion to knowledge transfer from the industry for the industry. IBIE in Las Vegas will take place from 17-21 September 2022 and will bring together all segments of the grain-based food industry supply chain.

iba 2023 in Munich will be the long-awaited reunion and international hub for the whole baking industry.  Not only trends, innovations, premieres, and solutions but also giving back is part of iba’s identity and characteristic. The German Bakers’ Confederation and Susann Seidemann, Director of iba, will be supporting the global baking industry in Las Vegas as partner and with live talks on Monday 19th of September 2022. “Contributing to the supporting programme at IBIE is a special event for us as iba. It is another milestone in our long-standing partnership and the first joint live event after more than two years. iba always stood for networking and knowledge transfer – even in 2021 we offered a digital platform to connect and exchange worldwide. Being back in the trade fair halls in Las Vegas in person is our next stop on the road to iba. After that, we are counting days to welcoming IBIE as a partner in Munich in 2023, when iba finally takes place live again,” states Seidemann.

Topics that move the industry: cost increases and sustainability

iba as the world's leading trade fair for the baking and confectionery industry is the international meeting spot for the global community. With its location and presentation of the trade fair in Munich, Germany, iba also has a special feature: It has its roots in the traditional German bakery trade and represents this in the halls on site. Daniel Schneider, Secretary General of the German Bakers’ Confederation, will give an insight into the German market in Las Vegas and share his expertise with the international visitors. He will give a lecture on “Dealing with Cost Increases in the German Bakery Trade - presented by iba”. With the presentation, Daniel Schneider will address topics that are currently of concern to the industry in the face of global inflation.

”The bakery trade, like many other sectors, has suffered badly from the pandemic. Thanks to the financial aid from the state, which the German Bakers’ Confederation fought for, as well as clever business management and the resilience of the companies, we have ultimately come through this crisis well. That is the strength of the bakery trade. However, we are currently facing new challenges like staff shortages, supply bottlenecks, increased material costs and inflation. With the lecture, I want to address the increasing costs and would like to show possible ways to deal with such resulting developments – because crisis can only be overcome as strong community and with joint knowledge exchange,” says Daniel Schneider.

Visitors can join the live-talk in Las Vegas on Monday, 19th of September 2022 from 12:45 PM – 1:30 PM on the Presentation Stage in the Retail Bakers Center.

Right after his presentation, Schneider will join the panel discussion “Is it efficient to be sustainable?”  with Rasma Zvaners, Vice President of Regulatory and Technical Services, American Bakers Association. Moderated by Catalina Mihu, baking+biscuit international - f2m Food2Multimedia, they will explore how bakers are balancing sustainability commitments in the face of global inflation, supply chain shortages and other immediate challenges impacting the industry.

Visitors can join the panel discussion on Monday, 19th of September 2022 from 1:45 PM - 2:30 PM on the Presentation Stage in the Retail Bakers Center.
