Award ceremony of the first hackathon exclusively focused on bioenergy, organized by FENASUCRO & AGROCANA, Think Lab Brasil and UFSCar in a 100% digital environment, announces innovation for the sector

CANATHON, the first hackathon exclusively focused on bioenergy, met on 26/08 the three winning teams, who presented proposals for quick solutions in Information Technology, involving issues and situations of management, production and new business to the problems pointed out by representatives of companies from the entire value chain of this market.

The winning project, among the 18 proposals presented, was the one that pointed out the use of the "Yeast Immobilization Technique and use of bagasse ash in civil construction", elaborated by the Ambali – Lagoa do Sino team.

The second place was the project to "Increase the efficiency of boilers based on modeling and optimization of the system", developed by the Thermican a team.

The third place was for the "Intelligent System for identification of fires in crops", created by AGTECH JBM3.

Awards

The winning team, Ambali – Lagoa do Sino, in addition to R$ 5,000 in cash, also guaranteed six months of access to DATAGRO Markets, a solution for market intelligence and an MTA (Master of Tecnhnology Administration) scholarship from UFSCAR – in the amount of R$ 15,000 – for one of its members.

In addition, all members of the three winning teams, Ambali – Lagoa do Sino, Thericana and AGTECH JBM3, will have access to a training of the Alura platform, where they can find courses ranging from programming to design, through front-end, mobile and digital marketing.

Differentiated Hackathon

For Marcos Eduardo de Oliveira, CEO of Think Lab Brasil, CANATHON was a unique event, for the engagement and knowledge of the maranalists. "This was a differentiated hackathon, since about 39% of the participants had a postgraduate or doctorate in their area of activity, and presented very interesting solutions, adhering to the problems of the bioenergy sector," he says.

So much so that, now, after the event, the 18 teams that completed CANATHON will receive mentoring from Think Lab Brasil to become startups for the sector. "We will support the solutions found so that teams actually deliver them to the market," he said. "In three days of hackathon it is only possible to create a solution hypothesis. Now, let's understand what they've done, identify what needs to be improved and guide them to turn this idea into a solution," he adds.

With more than 700 registered professionals, including maramarists and mentors, from all Brazilian states, including the Federal District, CANATHON had 18 lectures, totaling more than 20 hours of content generation and 54 hours of uninterrupted work between Friday (21) and Sunday (23). In addition to several activities to animate and engage teams.

Of the 26 multidisciplinary teams formed in the first stage of the event, only 18 were able to complete the five stages of the hackathon - formation of multidisciplinary teams, immersion (identification and knowledge of the problem), ideation (generation of ideas), prototyping (transformation of ideas into something tangible) and solution (delivery of the final solution) - three of them the winners.

CANATHON was organized by FENASUCRO & AGROCANA, Think Lab Brasil and UFSCar in a 100% digital environment and is part of the innovation pillar of Fenasucro & Agrocana TRENDS. In 2021 the project will be remodeled and promises to generate even more innovations during the event.

The 28th FENASUCRO & AGROCANA will be held from 17 to 20 August 2021, in Sertãozinho/SP. The International Bioenergy Fair is held by CEISE Br and organized by Reed Exhibitions.
