We work with customers, partners and communities to create and manage post-consumer packaging that is better for the planet and people.

We are setting ambitious goals to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and energy use in our global operations and implementing programs to reduce water use and waste generation.

Sustainable Products

We prioritize sustainability and safety in product design to support customers in achieving goals related to environmental protection and consumer health and safety, such as

Assessing the health and safety impacts of products throughout their life cycle (resources, processing, manufacturing, distribution, use and end-of-life).

Designing for product end-of-life to reduce waste sent to landfills and increase opportunities for reuse or recycling of packaging products.

Caring for our employees

Since 1899, we have been known for our commitment to our employees because we believe that people are the foundation of our business. From recruiting to training to employee development, we are committed to creating a diverse, equitable and inclusive environment for our approximately 22,000 employees around the world.

Caring for our communities

We are committed to being good neighbors and corporate citizens in our communities through partnerships with nonprofit organizations, philanthropic support through the Sonoco Foundation, and employee volunteerism through the Sonoco Cares program.

In 2023, Sonoco donated approximately $2 million to nonprofit organizations around the world, more than half of which supported education at all levels, including college scholarships.
