以钢结构为主体及采用金属围护系统的金属建筑具有绿色节能、强度高、工程造价低、自重轻、施工周期短、可工厂化制作和可回收利用等优点，近年来金属建筑结构的优势得到了广泛市政单位和建筑机构的重视并迅速发展，从重大工程、标致性建筑使用钢结构到钢结构普遍使用，金属建筑设计与产业呈现出了前所未有的兴旺景象。
为了促进金属建筑产业绿色发展，推进智能制造与新型建筑工业化深度融合，实现建筑业高质量发展要求，抓住钢结构建筑推广的市场机遇，发挥钢结构在装配式建筑中的示范、引领作用，由中国建筑金属结构协会指导，中国建筑金属结构协会建筑钢结构分会、上海市勘察设计行业协会和上海展业展览有限公司共同主办，中国绝热节能材料协会、中国建筑材料联合会金属复合材料分会联合主办的“2021亚洲金属建筑设计与产业博览会（MBE）”将以设计为纲，材料系统为领的办会方向，全力打造亚洲金属建筑产业一站式解决方案平台。同期还将举办多场行业高质量论坛和技术研讨会议，吸引亚太多个国家及地区的市政单位、建筑设计/咨询公司、科研院所、投资商/开发商/业主、工程建设/施工单位、建筑协会/学会、终端用户、经销代理和金属建筑装备与材料行业的专业人士到场参会参展。
